Marysville after Black Saturday

Here are some of the images taken today in Marysville almost 4 months after the devastating bushfires that almost destroyed the town. The town centre has one building left, the bakery! The rest of the high street is made up of tents and prefabricated structures. Entire blocks of homes have been reduced to rubble. There are very few exceptions!
One of the local BnBs is open for business. (Out of the 3000 beds that used to service the local ski resort there are just over 100 left!) Jacqui and Ian are lovely and would appreciate your custom over the coming months. They specialise in romantic weekends away. Their website is www.delderfield.com.au (and one of them comes from the UK so expect some northern hospitality!)
So Kinglake and Marysville are open for business. It is a beautiful part of the world and although the trip is quite confronting, the locals are wonderfully welcoming!!
